[Tuesday, November 03, 2009] McHenry County College will host a Fire Alarm Inspection and Testing workshop from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, November 12 for electrical inspectors, fire service personnel, building inspectors, city engineers and others who perform fire alarm system inspections and acceptance testing. The workshop will be held in Room B168 at the college.
The Fire Alarm Inspection and Testing workshop will cover the components of a fire alarm system, understanding the requirements of Chapter 10 of the National Fire Alarm Code NFPA 72 and the International Fire Code, learning the key elements for inspecting and testing fire alarm systems, recognizing the importance of acceptance testing, reviewing recent code changes, and using appropriate methods to test fire alarm system devices and components.
The instructor for this class, Hans Kristensen, has 36 years experience as an electrician and 12 years experience as an electrical instructor. He is NICET level 4 certified in fire alarm systems, IMSA level 2 certified in fire alarm systems, a member of: the National Fire Protection Association, National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, International Municipal Signal Association, American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians, International Association of Electrical Inspectors and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
