Honors Program

McHenry County College offers academically talented students an opportunity to participate in an Honors Program or individual Honors Program courses.

This expanded educational experience allows students to study a subject in greater depth and from a variety of perspectives. The refinement of skills in writing, research, problem solving and critical thinking skills is emphasized.

Students must meet two of the following requirements to be eligible for the Honors Program:

Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA to continue in the Honors Program. To graduate with Honors Program designation, students must complete 18-20 semester hours of Honors Program coursework and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. All honors coursework is identified on the student’s transcript and an Honors Program graduate will have a special notation and award along with the degree.

Students interested only in coursework and not the program are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
