Financial Aid Information for Students Transferring to MCC
The Office
of Financial Aid and Veteran Services is pleased to assist student transferring
to McHenry County College from another college or university. To help ensure
a timely and hassle-free transition to MCC, transfer students are encouraged
to pay close attention to the following steps:
- Apply and be accepted for admission to MCC. A part of this process is
arranging to have an official copy of your academic transcript sent to MCC's
Office of Admissions from each school you previously attended. For more
information, the Office of Admissions may be reached by calling (815) 455-8530.
You must be enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program to receive
financial aid. Make sure you inform the registration desk of your decision
when you register.
- The results of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must
be provided to MCC. If you have not applied, follow the directions listed
on how to apply on-line or using the paper FAFSA.
- If the FAFSA has already been processed, do not complete and send in another
one. Instead, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to
do an electronic change or call the Federal Student Aid Center at 1-800-4
FED AID and request an institution change. The information will then be
sent electronically to MCC. MCC School Code is 007691.
- If you previously received a Federal Guaranteed Student Loan, Stafford
loan, SLS loan, Perkins loan, and/or a PLUS loan at any time in the past,
you must notify your lender(s) of any change in your address and that you
are transferring to MCC. If you have a current loan at another institution,
your loan cannot be transferred to MCC. You must obtain and complete another
loan application.
- Transfer students who wish to receive V.A. educational benefits are encouraged
to go to the veteran section of this site.
