Please Note:  This field guide should not be used for determining edibility of mushrooms.  Many poisonous mushrooms look very similar to edible ones, and even edible mushrooms can sometimes show toxic effects.   Slight differences in mushroom species are difficult to discern from photographs alone.  Spore prints, and often times microscopic examination, must be done for true species identification.  Therefore, please DO NOT use the photographs in this gallery for mushroom hunting purposes.
