This class will examine
issues of good and evil, right and wrong, virtue and vice
through the literature of J.R.R.
Tolkien’s epic, Lord of the Rings.
What motivates villains
like Saruman to do evil?
What makes ordinary
hobbits like Sam and Frodo to perform heroic acts?
A combination of
courses:
Ethics (PHI 251) and Composition II (ENG 152)
with Jim Gould (Philosophy)
and Ted Hazelgrove (English)
This is an integrated
Learning Community where
students and instructors work
and learn together so that the two courses become one.
