MA with Teacher Certification – Elementary, North Park University
Program at a glance:
- The MATC Program
is in session on the MCC campus.

Park University.
- The MATC Program combines teacher certification for the elementary
grades (K-9)
with a Master's degree in Education - Teacher Leadership.
- The program can be completed in 3 years.
- Teacher Certification (grades K-9)
can be completed in 2 years.
- The 3 field experiences prepare students for a broad range of grade
levels and schools.
- The program is conducted in the cohort model.
- Classes meet one night a week: Wednesdays, 6 to 9:30 p.m. (There
are exceptions)
- Tuition of $345 per credit hour (subject to change).
Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited, state recognized institution
- Grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4-point scale) overall and a 3.0 in the major
- Completed application, including:
- Official transcripts from all college and universities attended
- Three recommendations (forms provided)
- Completed application form, with personal essay
- Application fee
- A teaching major or concentration in a liberal arts content field
(currently 28 semester hours are required)
- Score on the Miller Analogies
Test OR the Graduate Record Examination
- Passing score on the ISBE Basic Skills Test
Health requirements:
- Complete immunization record - up-to-date measles, mumps, rubella,
and Tetanus
- TB test approved by physician within 6 months of enrollment
Prerequisite courses:
- Survey of Exceptional Children and Practicum A.
- Exceptional Child will be offered by McHenry County College
in the Spring, Summer and Autumn. Those accepted into the cohort
will receive information about Practicum A which will be offered
as a non-credit pass or fail MCC course.
