Volunteer Adult Literacy Tutors Wanted

Would you like to teach adult learners?

As a volunteer tutor, you can help McHenry County College reach a diverse population of students who have a real desire to learn. These students need and appreciate the help and time you give to them.

Do you want to work as a tutor close to home?

One-on-one tutors work in the public libraries throughout McHenry County. Tutors choose the days and times that they are available and then a match is made with a student.

To become a volunteer:

Free orientations and basic training are offered throughout the year. They are designed for the active person who needs flexibility for scheduling multiple responsibilities.

Volunteers need to observe in a classroom before attending an orientation. To schedule an observation or for more information, contact Jane Brehm at (815) 455-8542.

All orientations are held at MCC. Spring orientations will be held February 2, March 1, and April 1.

For further information, please call Jane Brehm at (815) 455-8542.

This project was made possible in part by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the Office of Secretary of State, using state funds designated for literacy.
