The Emergency Medical Technician - Ambulance Certificate provides you with seven college credit hours and a certificate from the Illinois Department of Public Health to practice in the state of Illinois. Most firefighters in the state are certified as EMT-B. You may also use the EMT-B certificate as a technician in a clinical setting such as a hospital emergency room or to work on a private ambulance where you may perform pre-hospital emergency medical care such as:

  • bandaging
  • CPR
  • starting IV's
  • administering medications
  • patient assessment and treatment
