Faculty interested in developing and teaching an online course:
- Talk
with your Department Chair and Dean about developing and teaching
an online course.
- Complete
and submit to DE a Faculty Proposal form at least two semesters prior
to your intended online delivery date.
- Have
your Department Chair and Dean sign the Faculty Proposal form and
verify the course information.
- Submit
a Faculty Proposal form, even if your Dean elects to pay all costs
associated with online course development/teaching.
- Instructors
are required to attend Angel "Back to MCC" workshops.
- Remember,
faculty course proposals are prioritized and selected according to
program needs and budget considerations in tandem with consideration
of course requirements to fulfill Associate Degrees and/or specially
identified courses.
- Schedule
a meeting with the DE Director to discuss online design, development
and “Back to MCC” plans, once your proposal is accepted. A Letter
of Intent will be issued shortly thereafter.
- As
an instructor, you are required to attend a series of Angel
technical “Back to MCC” workshops and at least two instructional “Back
to MCC” workshops in order to receive course development stipends.

- Instructors
teaching an online course for the first time will receive a first-time
teaching stipend, provided that the instructor attends a Teaching Workshop.
- Contact
the Professional Development department to register for one-on-one
assistance with Angel.
- Be
sure to work with your Department Chair and administrative assistant
to check if your online course schedule has been entered into the
mainframe correctly. Check for accurate course title, section number,
start/end dates and 601 online course designations.
- At
least one month prior to the course start date, arrange a final course
review/assessment meeting with your Department Chair, Dean and the
Director of DE. The purpose of the meeting is to offer course design
feedback, complete all necessary paperwork and give DE a digital
copy of your course design materials.
- Once
the appropriate paperwork is complete and has required signatures,
the development stipend will be processed.
- To
benefit your online students, it is highly recommended that you attend
one or more of the student orientation sessions scheduled prior to
the semester start date. Call DE for orientation dates/times.
- Instructors
are expected to make contact with their students via an introductory
letter prior to the first day of class.
Creating web-enhanced or hybrid courses
Faculty interested in creating a web-enhanced or hybrid courses can request a shell.

courses, contact the DE department. Faculty interested in exploring
