Competencies Testing to Support Program Assessment and Improvement
Beginning in Spring 2005:
- MCC students seeking Transfer Associate’s Degrees will be required
to participate in assessments as a graduation requirement
- Graduates of all Occupational Programs will participate in end–of–program
testing
- Students seeking an Associate’s Degree in an Applied Science or Certification
will be required to participate in the assessment activities by the
department for those degrees and/or certificates
- All students will participate in course, departmental, end–of–program
and general education assessments
- Entering full–time students will be assessed for General Education Competencies
Information that is collected from these activities will
provide entry/exit data to enhance student learning and will not affect
student’s eligibility to enroll in classes or graduate. Instead McHenry
County College will use the assessment data to meet the goals of its Strategic
Plan. The Strategic Plan includes the goals of focusing on "student
learning and success" and building and maintaining "programs
and services that incorporate ‘best practices’ models and respond to growing
pressures for change coming
from government and the public."
