Head Coach Karl Smith

Coach Karl Smith began his inaugural season as Head Coach of the MCC Men's Soccer team in 1998, after being the assistant coach the four previous seasons. He was named ISCC Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2006. In 2001 and 2002 Smith was named NJCAA Region IV Coach of the Year. The 2002 squad was selected as the #14 team in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Adidas.

Smith's teams played conference championships in 2001, 2002 and 2006. The Scots reached the NJCAA Region IV Championship Game in 2001, 2005, and 2006. In the 2002 and 2003 seasons Chris Loustaunau and Rick Lenhardt were selected First Team All-Region in men's soccer Division I and were named NJCAA All-Americans.

Smith's first college head coaching job was at MCC. He has since become the Director of Coaching with Chicago Magic North, created by the merger of Chicago Magic and COPA FC. COPA FC was a youth soccer organization he created in 1999.

Smith studied at MCC in the horticulture department and later worked in the golf course industry for 13 years. Now his professional life is largely comprised of soccer-related involvements. Smith is married and has two boys, Josh and Cully.


Assistant Coach: Caulbert Smith

Assistant Coach Caulbert Smith is entering his inaugural season with the Men's Soccer team. Prior to coaching at MCC he coached at Marian Central High School, and was director of Coaching at Dundee United Soccer Club. He also coached club soccer and was coach for Mt. Prospect girl's travel soccer team.

He graduated with a degree in Theology and received his United State Soccer Federation coaching license. Coach Smith is married and has two children.
