MCC Alum Opens Local Business

Twisted Stem Floral opened its doors in November as the only retail operation in Eric Commons; located at the corner of IL Route 176 and Eric Street, a mile west of Route 31. Owner and designer John Regan, Genoa IL, describes his style as edgy and elegant; both styles are evident in the shop and in an online portfolio at www.twistedstemfloral.com.

"After 33 years in the floral business, I think I have developed a solid understanding of the needs and tastes of the customers I serve," says Regan. "From special events at the Art Institute of Chicago to intimate weddings at home, I have helped people reflect their unique personal style in flowers. We are not a wire service florist. We are more like an urban boutique shop located in the suburbs."

Prior to opening Twisted Stem, Regan was the senior designer at Mum Floral of Crystal Lake. He graduated from McHenry County College and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters in Fine Arts degree at Northern Illinois University.
