MCC can offer the following resources to Alumni:

2. What is the Alumni Mentoring/Consultant Program?

This program is designed to assist students in gaining access to someone who is or has worked in a specific career field. Students will be able to ask questions of the mentor or consultant as it pertains to educational goals and paths taken, expectation of work load and experience to enter the career field, potential for growth and what the mentor or consultant currently does in a specific career field.

3. What is a mentor?

A mentor is a volunteer who has worked in a career field and is willing to work with students on a more intensive basis. A mentor relationship is defined as someone who will have more than three contacts with the same student. A mentor may choose to have a longer term relationship with a student that may include: providing support throughout a student’s educational experience at MCC, job shadowing, internship possibilities, referrals and recommendations to potential employers, etc.

4. What is a consultant?

A consultant is volunteer who has worked in a career field and is willing to work with students on a less intensive basis. A consultant relationship is defined as someone who will have two or less contacts with the same student. A consultant provides preliminary information to students about a specific career field.

5. Is there a charge for participating in the Alumni Mentoring/Consultant Program?

No, there is no charge for this program. This is a service that is available to all MCC students (full and part-time). This program is supported by the MCC Career Services Department and MCC Alumni.
