AOM Proficiency Exams
Proficiency Exams offered
- AOM 101 – Keyboarding I
- AOM 102 – Document Formatting
- AOM 120 – Word Processing I
- AOM 145 – Office Practice
- Student should obtain a Proficiency Exam Form from Registration,
Room A258. There is a portion for the student to complete and a portion
for the enrollment processor to complete. There is a $25 fee for each proficiency
exam.
- Student should then make an appointment with Julie Freelove, AOM Department
Chair at (815) 455-8739. Most exams take approximately 2-3 hours. Most
exams require a written exam and hands-on demonstration. For keyboarding
exams, timed writings will also be given.
- Be sure to bring your completed Proficiency Exam Form with you to the
exam.
- No books, materials, or cell phones can be brought to the exam.
- The AOM Department Chair, or an instructor, will grade the exam and
complete the last section of the Proficiency Form. The Records Office
will mail the results (pink copy of the Proficiency Form) to you. (Allow
5-7 days for this). To ensure that you receive the results of your proficiency
exam promptly you must be a registered student at McHenry County College.
You may wish to check with the enrollment processor when you sign up
for the exam to make sure you are on our computer system with correct
personal data.
Please Note: You must score 80% or better on any proficiency exam you
take to receive credit. You may take each proficiency exam one time only.
